Exercise excuses are common among a lot of us. It is okay to miss a workout here and there, but being active is important to maintain your health and wellness. Here are some exercise excuses you may have and how you can combat them:
Often you may think that you are too tired to workout. This may be the exact reason that you are tired. Those who are normally active and take a week or two off of getting their workout in, claim to feel more lethargic and less motivated to pick their workout back up again. Your daily exercise will give you more energy!
If this is the case for you, try to make exercise a priority. Write down your schedule each day or at the beginning of the week to set time aside for your workout. Pilates also gives you focus and resets the brain - thus making you more efficient throughout the day!
Maybe there aren't enough activities around where you live? Maybe it's hard to find hiking trails, fitness centers, or parks nearby. Perhaps it always seems to rain on days you decide to exercise outdoors. Having a backup plan can help solve some of these exercise excuses! Walk around the mall a few times, or try following an exercise video in your living room. Plus - Club Pilates locations can be found across the nation!
You may lose motivation to work out if your workouts aren't fun or enjoyable. Switch up your routine, try different workouts, different durations, and different intensities. Get a partner or group together to stay accountable and add friends to the routine!
When you aren't feeling your best, of course, the last thing on your mind is physical activity. However, exercise may in fact make you feel better and even improve your health! If you aren't using or building your muscles, you'll lose them. Pilates is a low-impact workout that works for every fitness level - give a free intro class a try!
When it comes to starting your workout, many factors come into play. Your attitude, outfit, mental preparation, and physically getting to the location all have to come together. Combat this by writing down your workout schedule and putting that note somewhere you can see it! You can also tell friends that you are going to work out so you feel more obligated to go.
Maybe the workout is above the level of intensity that you are comfortable with and makes you want to quit before you even start. Start small. Classes are a great way to combat this because you have an instructor helping you through the movements; or bring a friend who has done the workout before so they can help you out!
Everyone is different. Your body will respond to exercise differently, so don't compare yourself to your neighbor. If the results don't physically show immediately, don't worry! Keep working at it and don't give up. The results will come. In the meantime, focus on what changes have happened - increased energy, longer-lasting endurance, more positive attitude, and your overall well-being!
Whatever event has kept you from your regular workout routine - injury, illness, or life changes, it's always something you can bounce back from. Start things off with lower intensity workouts that will help you get back into the groove. Fight through the soreness and out-of-breath workouts and you'll be back on track in no time!
