Instructor Testimonial - Lance's Story

My passion for health and fitness was uncovered at the age of 15 when I started weight lifting.

I competed as a bodybuilder at the age of eighteen and have won numerous 1st place titles. My interest then turned to powerlifting. through my disciplined nature, hard work, and undying dedicationI feel that I built a pristine name for myself in the sport, achieving the status of Elite in both the 198lb and 220lb classes. I also wrote and was on the Q&A staff for Elite Fitness Systems - a world renowned fitness company dedicated to the sport of powerlifting. My training now consists of CrossFit, which started in January 2008, with a secondary focus in Pilates.

I believe that all athletes should include this modality of training into their routines to help with posture, alignment, and core strengthening.

I became an Instructor because I wanted to expand my knowledge of fitness by adding Pilates to my repertoire, allowing me to share my enthusiasm for fitness on a level completely unknown to me. Also, the ability to give my clients and members more tools to improve their fitness.

Adding Pilates to my regimen provides a great compliment.

I've only instructed at Club Pilates, so it's hard for me to tell if I would ever instruct at a gym. What I can tell you, is that I like the design of the studio and how we as instructors are able to flow with the variety of equipment for our classes.

What stood out from my experience at Club Pilates Teacher Training was our Master Trainer Lucille Dyer, she was phenomenal and focused on the details, details, details.

The most memorable moments I have had while instructing are when the members tell me how much better they are able to move. It's amazing when body aches and pains that they have been dealing with for years disappear - thinking that was how they were going to have to live the rest of their lives.

Personally, Pilates has improved my flexibility and mobility, especially in my hips and, believe it or not, my core. I have gained a strong core from many years of training, or so I thought, LOL! When I first tried the Teaser, it took a some time to get the body awareness to perform the movement with efficiency.

It has always been a passion of mine to teach and improve others through fitness.

I have been in the Health and Fitness industry for over 25 years. The slightest improvements that members/clients see, are incredibly rewarding. The look on their faces, when a movement/exercise once thought impossible...is now done with control and proper body positioning, posture and balance.

I believe Pilates is for everybody, because no matter your fitness background or lack of, you will notice improvements that will carry over to everyday life.

If your passion is to help others live a better, healthier and balanced life, I would definitely recommend others to get certified. It could even be great for someone wanting to expand their knowledge and get hands-on detailed experience of what Pilates is all about.
