Here is my Pilates journey through my aches, pains, surgeries and weight loss. Thank you Pilates!
Dealing with ACL reconstruction back in 2007, vertebrae that fused on its own in my L5 to S1 in 2015 (as well as bulging and tears in multiple discs), Rotator Cuff surgery in 2019, gaining 35 pounds and tearing my labrum in my hip in 2021, I am --or should I say WAS-- in constant pain.
I am an avid athlete; I grew up and played any and every sport you can think of. I love being in the gym lifting weights, but my doctors and specialist have now told me to slow down with everything.
I have passed Club Pilates thousands of times. I even got my ex to take an intro class with me a few years back, but I didn't want to make the commitment and purchase a membership.
I made my way to another intro class in 2021 and decided I was going to start a membership in June.
I started out with Flow 1, and decided I could challenge myself even more. I started venturing out to Suspend, then Center and Balance, and one day tried Flow 1.5 and loved it.
I hit 100 classes in January and I can't imagine myself not being a part of this amazing club!
I started at a weight I was ashamed of because I technically let myself go through a tough breakup in 2020.
I have had some of the most amazing instructors guide me through my journey. The pain has subsided tremendously due to the exercises and stretching associated with Pilates. The days I cannot make it to classes there is a difference with my body and pain. I could not have done this on my own. Thank You to my studio, Club Pilates Coppell! I feel a part of the family now!
For anyone thinking of joining, don't think, just do it! I have seen results in my weight loss, aches and pains, and also have gained muscles/definition in places I have never had before. You will not be disappointed.
